A modern-day story of fortune-seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the most popular movies and TV series by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user rating.. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so that they can drill for oil and gas. Similar to a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (a human camp), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the fixer, problem solver, and facilitator..
No one on set knows how to advise him on something so basic
Like the show and everything Taylor Sheridan does, but where was the technical consultant? In the pump rig incident, Billy Bob doesn’t even hold a pipe wrench properly. I had to let him go again when I couldn’t believe what I just saw.
And a handheld explosive gas monitor
And at the scene of the accident, a real crew would have the right equipment and know how to work it. Like a 36″ pipe wrench that a few guys could get out of the back. No one would hammer a short pipe wrench.
Hell, build a 2-foot pipe to extend your arm if that’s all you’ve got
Having worked in places like this, the show is far from the safety precautions used in the industry, which is absurd according to OSHA. No one would stand on a truck loaded with pipe, and no one is at height without a safety harness.
