The Duttons faced new challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. The Great Depression in America began in 1929, but it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, almost a decade before the rest of the country. While the rest of America prospered, Montana struggled. Between drought and reduced demand for farm products due to the end of the “Great War” (World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers defaulted on war loans, leading to widespread bank failures throughout the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 settlers had left. Also, 200 banks in Montana failed. Not only did the drought affect crops, but it was followed by a plague of locusts, and cattle fell victim to plague. Featured in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023). After Yellowstone, it was a different but similar feeling… I really enjoyed it and although I would have to see the ore, something makes me feel like it could have been better (a bigger challenge after Yellowstone!). BUT. BUT. BUT…. Finally, it seems like the subplots are coming together… And then it ends – of course a second season is planned – BUT – if it doesn’t, then you’ve just wasted your time because the story isn’t even finished at the end of the first season. There are currently no announcements or schedules for a second season… It makes me so angry! It’s like going to a great restaurant and just being served a mama’s boy on the side without a main course!!! What the hell… Come on, producers… Get your fingers out!!!!
